We have to talk about this tomorrow. I waited until 12 noon today and I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed. For those who are not guilty, thank you - you know who you are.

While reading the blogs, I told myself, I'm sure it won't reach five this time. I stopped reading when I reached the fifth and then decided to first count the total. And guess what, I reached 24, including the 7 who still haven't done any. That's almost a third of your entire batch. I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. I'd like to hear what you have to say and let's work around that.

BREAKDOWN OF GRADES:
30% Final Examination
20% Long Tests
20% Quizzes
15% Oral Communication
15% Other Requirements

Putting HOME back in homework...

So, now for this week's blog entry. :D

Before I get to what it is, I'd let you in on my inspiration for this next assigment. I was reading one of the books assigned in my Professional Education class and I came across this sentence - "Slowly, I began to realize that homework privileged a particular type of student: those who are safe, well fed, and surrounded by supportive families." Probably explains why I've always hated homework! I'm sure you all know what kind of homework I'm talking about - the usual answer-pages-blah-blah-blah or answer-numbers-blah-blah-blah, which I'm pretty sure many of you (like me! hehe...) are guilty of doing fifteen minutes before class and "asking for help" (hmmm...) from your "more responsible" (like me again! feeling! hahaha! okay, fine, I'll keep quiet now...) classmates. We're a bit tired of that, aren't we? So, let's look at homework from a totally different perspective.

Supposedly, homework is homework becuase it requires the interaction of students with their families. Yeah, like it's so being done right now. I don't think so. And I am aware that some of you might be reluctant to do this because of personal reasons (I would have found my teacher crazy for asking me to do this, but I'd probably do it anyway since it's homework...wait, I'm supposed to be quiet!), so, if you believe that you have a valid excuse to not do this, let me know and we will work something out. Although, I truly believe this would be a great activity for all of you. And an excuse to find out their secrets. :D

Instructions are as follows:

Interview a family member, preferrably your parents, to find the answers to the following questions (your blog entries should have the question and across the answer - no need to elaborate if you don't want to):

1. What was the funniest thing I did when I was a baby?
2. What was my first word?
3. What was my first food/favorite food?
4. What was the craziest thing you did when you were a student?
5. How did you and dad/mom meet? (if it's too awkward to ask, you're excused)
6. If you could do anything other than what you are doing now, what would it be?
7. Tell me a secret you kept from your parents. (*grin*)
8. Tell me something about you that I still don't know.

All good?

And as our norm goes, I did the homework myself...even if my mom found me really weird for doing the homework I assigned you to do. I'm sorry some of my answers are in Filipino...but this is how I was answered.

1. What was the funniest thing I did when I was a baby?
(I'm so weird...)
2. What was my first word?
- Co...with matching right hand formed into a C. It was the height of martial law and Cory had your vote. (I know, I know...I'm such a loser...)
3. What was my first food/favorite food?
- Your fingers! Until it evolved to your thumb! But yeah, your hands for sure. You stopped drinking milk from your bottle when you were 8 months and you never cried when you were hungry. Your thumb nourished you for awhile. (Wow, thanks a lot!)
4. What was the craziest thing you did when you were a student?
- I flushed important documents against Marcos when the guardias were searching our school. I was standing on the rim of our toilet bowl so that I wouldn't be seen while flushing all those documents. I was a student activist when I was in high school. (Yeah, and I wasn't allowed to join EDSA II...no wonder...)
5. How did you and dad meet?
- We met in school. I was taking my MBA then. (She probably felt weird answering this one so that's all she said...)
6. If you could do anything other than what you are doing now, what would it be?
- I'd be a doctor! We didn't have money to send me to medical school then but I would have loved to become a doctor.
7. Tell me a secret you kept from your parents.
- I didn't keep any secrets from them except that of being an activist which they eventually found out. (BADUY!!! Wala daw secrets...wushu...)
8. Tell me something about you that I still don't know.
- Um...I don't have tonsils? (Ok...eewww.) I've been operated many times when I was child...(She named a few but I don't think I was listening...oops, sorry mom.) I bought my first car when I was 18 with my own money. (Yeah, yeah...and I don't have money to even buy a bike...)

There! Good luck with your HOMEwork! :D Enjoy! Latest Saturday 6pm. If you have done it earlier, post me a comment so I'd know which ones I can check during my lunch break. I can't wait to watch your presentations tomorrow. Do well! :D

I have officially finished reading all of your blogs! Except of course for those who still don't have any up yet - your names are listed below. (Guys, if you really don't want to make one, just let me know...and for those who are active bloggers and might just know their reasons for not abiding by my rules, let me know as well. I don't want to tire myself checking whether or not they already have one up.)

For the following, I am sorry but my geekiness is failing me. I cannot seem to find a way to comment on your blogs. I get lost trying to find the right button. Although I have to say that your lay-outs are just great.

1. Crisostomo
2. Constantino
3. Pena
4. Rivera

Please let me know how to comment on your respective blogs.

I already know what I want you to write about for your next post. I will just organize my thoughts and post my instructions tomorrow and that will be due next Saturday by 6pm. By then, no post, no check.

I hope you're all ready for Monday. I appreciate those who are really preparing for this - you know who you are. I just want to let you know that I have high expectations when it comes to presentations. My batch can atest to my reasons. Personal standards, so to say. And I believe that you can and will deliver accordingly.

Anyway, it's a Saturday night, I better get out of here. Until tomorrow.

I wonder if I'll see any of you tonight...

Right now, it is 11:58pm. And as I said, until Wednesday. Probably by the time I finish writing this entry, it would already be tomorrow.

If no more URLs arrive within two minutes, these are the people who still don't have blogs. For whatever reason or reasons you have, I hope it is important enough to have put this aside.

1. Bautista
2. Kwon
3. Tabusalla
4. Gamboa, Ma. Anna
5. Tan, A
6. Dalisay
7. Prieto
8. Santos (effort appreciated)

I believe I deserve an explanation. Just email me (both addresses please, since I'll be at work). You guys don't have school tomorrow, so you have the entire day. I expected this to at least be respected as a class requirement.

I'd like to thank Magoo for putting up the blog directory, it did help me find a lot of the blogs I could not access.

Again, thanks for those who have taken this to a higher level. It is very much appreciated.

Give me time to read the rest of the blogs. Only half of my brain is functioning right now and I believe this task deserves all of it. By next week, you'll have to post a new entry, I'm still thinking of something interesting you guys can write about. And hopefully by then, EVERYONE will have a blog.

Good luck with your group presentations for Monday. Let's all learn while teaching creatively.

Criteria:

30% content (please don't give me reason to correct you while presenting)
30% creativity
30% audience impact (lesson should stick to the minds of your audience)
10% teaching tool (how effective was it as a teaching tool)

Please prepare 1/4 sheet of paper with your names and this breakdown.

Make the most out of your free day tomorrow. And if you may, please do pray for me - I have this huge presentation tomorrow at work.

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the blogs. And thanks for all those who expressed their appreciation for my comments.

Putting an identity behind the faces that I see as I stand in front of a class is something that I wanted to accomplish with this first entry. And I must say that I gained much more that I wanted to with all that I've read.

Thank you for those who took this blog as something beyond requirement, as something that can be used to express oneself, to get to know herself more and her batchmates better. Thank you for those who trusted me and and everyone else with the information that has been disclosed in these blogs. Thanks you for those who have been actively reading the blogs of their batchmates and commenting on what they have to share. We all might as well take this to a higher level and use it to instil both class and batch unity while actually accomplishing my objectives of making you read and write.

I'd also like to apologize because many people complained about the hard time they had to go through to put up the blog. I think it's about time that we all become a little more geekish - information technology is already being extensively used in education and other fields. Let's use this tool while learning.

Unfortunately, there were several blogs that I still do not have or could not access. I will let you go for now with my first checking, but all entries after this that are not in, will no longer be excused. Wow! 37! To all those who are in this list. Please do check your URLS and comment to this post with your final URL to add in our links. Please do this before Wednesday. If I do not receive any URL from you, I will consider it an unchecked requirement. No make ups, I'm sorry. It's been two weeks.

I'd also like to remind all of those who still do not have their ID pictures. By next Monday, if their not in, consider it another unchecked requirement. And please don't bother giving me a picture anymore after that, I'll just figure out who you are.

I was supposed to make an e-group for this batch, but do we all agree that we'll just check this blog constantly for updates? I'll bring this up when I see you in awhile.

Adios, mi amigas! :D
