Putting HOME back in homework...
So, now for this week's blog entry. :D
Before I get to what it is, I'd let you in on my inspiration for this next assigment. I was reading one of the books assigned in my Professional Education class and I came across this sentence - "Slowly, I began to realize that homework privileged a particular type of student: those who are safe, well fed, and surrounded by supportive families." Probably explains why I've always hated homework! I'm sure you all know what kind of homework I'm talking about - the usual answer-pages-blah-blah-blah or answer-numbers-blah-blah-blah, which I'm pretty sure many of you (like me! hehe...) are guilty of doing fifteen minutes before class and "asking for help" (hmmm...) from your "more responsible" (like me again! feeling! hahaha! okay, fine, I'll keep quiet now...) classmates. We're a bit tired of that, aren't we? So, let's look at homework from a totally different perspective.
Supposedly, homework is homework becuase it requires the interaction of students with their families. Yeah, like it's so being done right now. I don't think so. And I am aware that some of you might be reluctant to do this because of personal reasons (I would have found my teacher crazy for asking me to do this, but I'd probably do it anyway since it's homework...wait, I'm supposed to be quiet!), so, if you believe that you have a valid excuse to not do this, let me know and we will work something out. Although, I truly believe this would be a great activity for all of you. And an excuse to find out their secrets. :D
Instructions are as follows:
Interview a family member, preferrably your parents, to find the answers to the following questions (your blog entries should have the question and across the answer - no need to elaborate if you don't want to):
1. What was the funniest thing I did when I was a baby?
2. What was my first word?
3. What was my first food/favorite food?
4. What was the craziest thing you did when you were a student?
5. How did you and dad/mom meet? (if it's too awkward to ask, you're excused)
6. If you could do anything other than what you are doing now, what would it be?
7. Tell me a secret you kept from your parents. (*grin*)
8. Tell me something about you that I still don't know.
All good?
And as our norm goes, I did the homework myself...even if my mom found me really weird for doing the homework I assigned you to do. I'm sorry some of my answers are in Filipino...but this is how I was answered.
1. What was the funniest thing I did when I was a baby?
(I'm so weird...)
2. What was my first word?
- Co...with matching right hand formed into a C. It was the height of martial law and Cory had your vote. (I know, I know...I'm such a loser...)
3. What was my first food/favorite food?
- Your fingers! Until it evolved to your thumb! But yeah, your hands for sure. You stopped drinking milk from your bottle when you were 8 months and you never cried when you were hungry. Your thumb nourished you for awhile. (Wow, thanks a lot!)
4. What was the craziest thing you did when you were a student?
- I flushed important documents against Marcos when the guardias were searching our school. I was standing on the rim of our toilet bowl so that I wouldn't be seen while flushing all those documents. I was a student activist when I was in high school. (Yeah, and I wasn't allowed to join EDSA II...no wonder...)
5. How did you and dad meet?
- We met in school. I was taking my MBA then. (She probably felt weird answering this one so that's all she said...)
6. If you could do anything other than what you are doing now, what would it be?
- I'd be a doctor! We didn't have money to send me to medical school then but I would have loved to become a doctor.
7. Tell me a secret you kept from your parents.
- I didn't keep any secrets from them except that of being an activist which they eventually found out. (BADUY!!! Wala daw secrets...wushu...)
8. Tell me something about you that I still don't know.
- Um...I don't have tonsils? (Ok...eewww.) I've been operated many times when I was child...(She named a few but I don't think I was listening...oops, sorry mom.) I bought my first car when I was 18 with my own money. (Yeah, yeah...and I don't have money to even buy a bike...)
There! Good luck with your HOMEwork! :D Enjoy! Latest Saturday 6pm. If you have done it earlier, post me a comment so I'd know which ones I can check during my lunch break. I can't wait to watch your presentations tomorrow. Do well! :D

marice and justanear: Thanks for doing the homework early. I want to unload as much as you guys do. :D Will check probably during my lunch break!
kaki: Ano ka ba?! Again, read my comment in your blog. Life is made up of things that we choose to do with what has been thrown to us. Come on, let's transcend their being mad at us...and kill them with kindness. I have this theory that someday it will work. :D
tracy: You're very welcome. :D
kaye: Hehe. Oops. Yeah I sucked my thumb until I was seven. Stopped on my birthday - birthday resolution for being "grown up." Yeah, whatever. Sometimes my friends still catch me when I'm asleep - although I am unconscious of it already. And of course I'll never tell!!! You think I don't expect you guys not to tell on me as well! Hahaha!
karen: Salamat ah, you just called my template the loser template. Hahaha! Kidding. You're very welcome. And yes, I will pray that your children will have a teacher who'll ask them to do something like this...or I'd love to teach them - that's if I'm not all old and crumply. :D
to all of you: I hope you're enjoying your campus tour right now!
i'm done too. -dela Cruz

Miss, there's a bit of trouble with my blog at the moment. It claims I uploaded an entry successfully but when I check my site, it isn't there yet. Since my blog isnt so big yet isnt it suppose to upload immediately? oh well, just in case it doesnt show up, can i ask for an extension for the deadline (to make it sunday instead :D)? My family will be out of town the entire saturday so I might not be able to check if my blog updated..hehehe.
